Baba Suwe Finds New Love + He's Now Too Big To Accept Movie And MC Role

We all knew that things would get better for Baba Suwe if he won the court case against NDLEA. Those of you following this blog know that he was awarded a whopping N25m in damages.

Though NDLEA insist on appealing the case, news at the moment has it that Baba Suwe is currently living life as though the N25m has landed in his account. Allegedly, he has recently refused a number of movie and MC roles. And to top it all, he just found love in a lady called Sherifat Ilerika.

Money is good right? If this is true, I urge Oga Suwe to wait till his N25m enters his account, because you can't be so sure NDLEA will pay ... This is Naija, shine your eye.

PICTURES Anti Gay Law Protest, Nigerian Embassy + More Opposers Speak Up

The gay community in New York, and some Nigerians yesterday, protested against the recently promulgated anti-gay legislation by the Nigerian National Assembly.

No doubt a number of people will not accept this legislation without a fight. Did you watch the BBC video about a Gay Nigerian who was attacked, assaulted and insulted on several occasions by his fellow Nigerians because he's gay? Well check it out HERE

Even Virgin Atlantic boss/ Business mogul, Sir Richard Branson expressed his disgust as well by saying;
"Too sad to comprehend that Nigeria are passing a law in this day and age to put gay people in prison just for being gay.
The Prohibition of Same-Sex Marriage Bill passed through Nigeria’s Senate unopposed last week. It means gay couples entering into either marriage or cohabitation will be jailed for up to 14 years. Even people 'witnessing' or 'abetting' gay relationships could be punished under this sad, repressive and cruel law.
Like everyone else in society, gay people have an enormous amount to offer and Nigeria should embrace them not prosecute them. All of us with influence in Nigeria must do what we can to stop this cruel law. I would urge educated Nigerians all over the world to do what they can to help fight this discrimination."
British Government are currently threatening to withhold their foreign aids.

A Nigerian Gay Pastor Dares Senate As He Recruits More Members

Gay Pastor Rowland Olajide Macaulay
A gay pastor, Rowland Olajide Macaulay of House of Rainbow church in the past, appeared on CNN where he openly talked about his church of gays situated in Lagos. Following the CNN publication, he fled to abroad on a self imposed exile, he currently runs his gay church there.
“ My Church is a voice of the younger generation of citizens, activists, and diaspora, and our collective belief in a more progressive Nigeria. They are afraid of our growing influence as we gather allies not just from the West, a people that are not afraid but powerful and resilient.“Right now, they are spreading their tentacles to every village, town and city around the world”.
The Church is also calling faithful and dedicated local leaders who believe in homosexuality and lesbianism. Currently, ten House Of Rainbow Fellowship local leaders are in Ghana, Nigeria, UK, Burundi, and Lesotho. He believes;
“any negative effect on the anti-gay bill will have detrimental effect on the work and mission of House Of Rainbow in Nigeria. The lives of LGBTI people and their friends, families and allies will be further frustrated with fear and prejudice. We need to pray and stand up against injustice”.
He is leading a comeback even though he remains in London, but the project could even spread beyond the borders of Africa’s most populous country as he has recruited members from other African countries. He still preaches to Nigerians via Youtube.

Actor Jim Iyke in court over N15 million fraud And Beating Up Elderly Lady

Sometimes you hear some stories and wish they'll be false. It's been less than two weeks since Jim Iyke showed off his exotic cars and also collections from his new fashion line, Untamed Closet, hence we concluded all was going well for the actor, but earlier this week a report from  234next.com read:-
A Film actor, Jim Iyke, 35, was on Thursday arraigned before an Abuja Chief Magistrates' Court charged with N15 million fraud.
The Police Prosecutor, Mr Chijoke Okezie, told the court that on Aug. 8, Habiba Abubakar wrote a petition to the Inspector General of Police (IG) to investigate the fraud.
He said that investigation into the case revealed that the accused, a resident of Sunnyville Estate, Abuja, deceived Abubakar into acquiring 15 per cent equity shares to the tune of N15 million from his company, Untamed Records Ltd.
Okezie said the accused admitted that the complainant paid the money into his Oceanic Bank account No. 00500173691, deviating from his initial plan of investment and converted the money to his personal use.
He added that when the complainant confronted the accused, he resorted to beating her and threatened to kill her.
The case is said to have been adjourned till December 9th to enable the police complete their investigation. I wonder what the said investigation will reveal.

In July 2006, founder of Christian Praying AssemblyRev. Chukwuemeka Ezeuko aka Rev. King accused six members of his church of sinning by having extra-marital sex, hence he poured petrol over them before setting them alight. Ann Uzor died in hospital from her burns.

He is presently challenging the 2007 judgement which sentenced him to death by hanging as he insists people were plotting against him. Nonetheless, he appeal scheduled for last Wednesday suffered some set back due to irregularities in the appeal.

Uche Jombo Denies Abortion Rumour And Is Taking Legal Actions Against The Magazine

Uche Jombo seems really vexed about this abortion rumour which stemmed from a Soft-sell magazine. In discussing the issue she said;
''You know how emotional I am. I have cried for smaller things but this one, I still curse the person, till tomorrow. It will only take God for me to see the person and not harm him,'' she fumed, ''For me, that was my biggest scandal ever. It was really damaging and I won’t stop fighting till I get justice.
Well, I’m currently in court with the soft-sell magazine, for writing what I have come to consider the worst media story in my entire life and career, which was completely false and malicious. During the world premiere of my second movie last year, Holding Hope, I lost so much weight deliberately based on my character as a Cancer patient only for this paper to write on their front page that I aborted a pregnancy at six months, hence the lost of weight
It’s still all over the net, just Google Uche Jombo/abortion, you’ll see over 500 pages…That story nearly shattered my life, my family legacy and all that I have laboured for in my entire career, in fact, it almost killed me ... When you say someone aborted a six-month-old pregnancy, you are not just saying it’s an abortion, you are equally saying that person is a murderer because, six months, a baby is already formed and I don’t know where any one gets off thinking you can lose weight by having abortion.''

Do you think this will work?
Is this the solution we need?

NOKIA TAKEN TO COURT BY NIGERIA MUSICIAN OVER COPYRIGHTS ISSUES

NOKIA has been accused by a Nigerian musician, 2shortz of copyrights infringement. The musician, who is hails from the  Eastern Parts of Nigeria has also dragged the mobile phone company before a Lagos High Court over what he described as a violation of his intellectual property by the mobile phone company.
 In his statement of claims, 2shortz said  NOKIA used three of his songs as default ring tones for NOKIA X3 without getting approval and sealing a contract with him. He considered it as illegal.
He is therefore seeking damages in form of monetary compensation to the tune of N5 billion.
 While Brendan Rilley, lawyer for NOKIA is saying that they actually got the deal through Orchard, a record label last year, 2shortz said nothing can be farther from the truth.2shortz reiterated that only Umunnamu his record label has the legal rights to enter into any contract with company or individual regarding his songs.
  Gistmaster gathered that some people are not in happy that Nokia can do such a thing to a musician. A furious musician told gistmaster.com on phone that it is quite absurd and unthinkable that Nokia can commit such a blunder.
 Sources however told gistmaster.com that it may not the fault of top officials of Nokia. They said they were sure some people who were supposed to broker the deal might have played a fast one by going through the back door.
   James Rutherfoord, Nokia’s General Manager, West Africa could not be reached for comments on the issue. Nigerian musicians in the past have been at loggerheads with telecoms company over the way that their intellectual property have been used without gains. It took some efforts and campaigns by leading artists before the case was resolved in the past.
