Paralympics Star Sprinter Oscar Pistorious Murders Girlfriend On Valentine's Day.

South African Paralympics star Oscar Pistorious was arrested for allegedly shooting his girlfriend dead at his home in Pretoria.

Suggestions in the local media state that Pistorious may have shot his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, mistaken her for a burglar and that the shooting could have been a Valentine's-Day-surprise-gone-wrong situation. There are speculations that Steenkamp who was shot four times in the head and arm may have been trying to surprise her boyfriend in his heavily guarded home and was mistaken for an intruder.

A police spokesman said that the athlete was distraught, "We can't comment on his emotional wellbeing, but he is traumatized after losing someone close to him," the spokesman said.

30-year-old Steenkamp who was also a well- recognized South African model was scheduled to feature in a reality TV show called Tropika Island Of Treasure. In a recent interview with Sunday Times in South Africa she described her Pristorious as "an impeccable man who always has her best interests at heart".

Steenkamp who seemingly had been looking forward to spending Valentine's Day with her boyfriend tweeted yesterday: "What do you have up your sleeve for your love tomorrow??? #getexcited #ValentinesDay. Responding to a follower who said she was going to make her husband a card with her children, the model wrote:  "That sounds amazing! Wow that's what it's all about! It should be a day of love for everyone :) may it be blessed!".

South Africa has some of the world's highest rates of violent crime and some homeowners carry weapons to defend themselves against intruders.

There were indications that Pistorius did have fears about his safety. In an interview with the Daily Mail before the London 2012 Games it was revealed he slept with a pistol next to his bed and kept a machine gun by a window. Pistorius had been arrested previously. In September 2009 he was arrested for assault after slamming a door on a woman. Family and friends at the time said it was an accident.

The Johannesburg-born sprinter won a legal battle over his blades with the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) in 2008 for the right to compete in able-bodied competition.

VIDEO: Vincent Enyeama's Failed Celebration As He Attempts To Pick Up Referee

So far we've been enjoying some entertaining celebrations from African soccer stars throughout the AFCON. And one of the funniest moments was when Super Eagles stopper Vincent Enyeama at the AFCON finals.

Referee Djamel Haimoudi blew the final whistle in favour of the Eagles as they beat Burkina Faso 1-0 at the AFCON finals. Enyeama was consumed with uncontainable joy that he tried to lift the Referee in celebration... But it seems the referee was weightier than he thought.

Well, at least he had the opportunity to lift trophy, even though he couldn't lift the 'Ref'.

Dangote Forks Out N130 million Super Eagles For Reaching The AFCON Finals

Business mogul and President/CEO of Dangote Group Aliko Dangote was also left awe-stricken by the Super Eagles' victory at the semi-finals of the ongoing Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON).

The Billionaire Businessman forked out a wholesome N130 million on the Eagles for making it the AFCON finals after their 4-1 victory against the Malian football team.

According to Sports Minister Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi: "Dangote has always demonstrated commitment to government and people of Nigeria. We are happy over the gesture shown to the players and the coaching crew. It is an example for other well-meaning Nigerians to follow."

Such generous gesture!

Didier Drogba's Mum Cooks For Ivorian National Team At The Ongoing Nations Cup

 

The mother of Ivory Coast international Didier Drogba has been cooking for the national team supporters at a makeshift restaurant she set up near the fans’ village in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, where the Elephants are playing their Group B games.

Clotilde Drogba, who personally does the traditional home cooking of fried plantain chips, pepper soup, white rice, tomato sauce and attieke, said it was her contribution to nation at the tournament by feeding the supporters so they could have enough strength to cheer the team to final victory.
Every match day, some 60 members of the national committee of the Elephants supporters (CNSE) queue up with empty bowls to collect food free off charge from the mother of the most influential Ivorian player, before heading to the stands to sing and clap.

Ivory Coast sports minister Philippe Legre visited the supporters’ village early this week and handed the sum of $100 (R776) to each of the 60 men and women.

Local pundits have criticised the Ivorian authorities for sponsoring a very few number of supporters to the showpiece as opposed to other members of the group who came in with larger contingents.
Angola brought 700 supporters while Burkina Faso, 200. The minister reiterated that his budget could not bring in more than the numbers present in Malabo.

Ivory Coast have qualified to the quarterfinals after defeating Burkina Faso 2-0 on Thursday.

VIDEO: T.B. Joshua Predicted Super Eagles Loss + Super Eagles Now Blame Pastor His Prediction

Above is a video of TB Joshua's prediction about a week ago. In a chat with Tribune Newspaper reporters shortly after the match, Super Eagles striker Osaze Odewingie blamed their inability to qualify for next year's nations cup on TB Joshua's prediction, he claims it put pressure on the team. In his own words;

“Yes, I would say I am sorry to Nigerians for not playing according to expectation and I believe I did not play well in the match. 

But the prediction of Prophet TB Joshua really affected us. We thought we could see him and see how he could overturn the negative prediction but the officials came with another prophet who prayed for us and told us that all was well. 

But in all we did not do our own bit of the job well as players and we are not happy that we won’t play at the forthcoming Nations Cup.”

John Mikel Obi's father kidnapped in Jos

Father of Chelsea player, John Mikel Obi has been missing following the violence in Jos, Plateau state, the 50+ business man did not return from work. His phone has also been switched off since Friday, hence the suggestion that he may have been kidnapped, though no one seems to have made any financial demands. According to BBC, Mikel said

"I've always tried to help the country, this is the time for the country to help me, whoever knows where my dad is should please contact me,"

It should also be remembered that in July 2008, the elder brother of defender, Joseph Yobo was kidnapped in Portharcourt, though it's unclear if a ransom was paid, but Nornu Yobo was released after about two weeks.

Obafemi Martins loses his elder brother, Ladi Martins

Football star, Obafemi Martin just lost his elder brother, Oladipupo (aka Ladi) Martins earlier today at a Lagos hospital. Lani is best known as a former Inter Milan player, and had been battling with heart problem for a while.
It should also be remembered that their mother, Alhaja Sherifat Martins died 3years ago when she inhaled fumes from a burning petrol tanker, after which she collapsed in her car.
