7th Remembrance Of Stella Damasus' Late Husband + New Talent Hunt In His Honour

On December 3rd 2004, the very talented singer Jaiye Aboderin passed on at the age of 33 after he slumped to death during a game of basketball. The late singer's widow, actress Stella Damasus tweeted: 

''Join me as i celebrate my late husband's 7th remembrance. Jaiyejeje Aboderin ur spirit lives on. keep resting in the lord''.

In honour of the late singer a music talent hunt has been put together called the 'Jay search' the hunt will have a total of 20 finalists.The finale of the hunt will be on the 16th of December at the grand ball room of the Lagos oriental hotel were 6 of them will slug it out for a cash price of N250,000, a recording deal for one single, a video, makeover, publicity, airplay and promotion.

The winners will be selected by the guest whose votes will form 40% of  the final votes, while the remaining 60% will come from the judges. Expected to be in attendance are Nollywood Finest and the music industry finest.

VIDEO: The Mandelas Just Like The Kardashians Start Their Own Reality Show

Swati Dlamini, 32 (left) and Zaziwe Dlamini-Manaway, 34 (centre), the granddaughters of Winnie and Nelson Mandela, and Dorothy Adjoa Amuah, 27, (right) the granddaughter of Mr Mandela and his first wife Evelyn, are using this US-South African collaboration to showcase contemporary independent South Africa women, by giving viewers a glimpse into their daily lives, their tight-knit family life, their conflicts and personal aspirations, though the 93-year-old former South African president, will not be participating.

The programme which  is due to be screened next year has been criticised by many for fear that it may come across as tacky hence destroying the very respected MANDELA name. The girls claim nonetheless that t is an opportunity to show the world that they are ordinary people, but critics say its just a way for the girls to cash in from the MANDELA name.

Nigeria's Karen Igho and Zimbabwe's Wendall Parson win Big Brother with $200,000 each

It's been a long 91 days but Africa has picked her winners, Karen Igho an upcoming Nigerian actress and model (who recieved top votes in 6 countries) and Wendall Parson a Zimbawean pilot (with top votes in 4 countries). Luclay had top votes in 2 countries, while Lomwe, Sharon O and Hanni had top votes in just one country, Vina had no top vote.

Gulder Ultimate Search 8th edition to feature a whopping 30 contestants



The 8th edition of Gulder Ultimate Search tagged "Contest of Champions" kicks off on September 17th with a lot more promises than ever before. This time around, instead of the normal 10 - 12 contestants, the organisers of the show, Nigerian Breweries (makers of Gulder) are having a whopping 30 contestants in the hope of making it more exciting and engaging to the viewers and contestants alike.
This year’s edition will be held at the Egbetua Quarter, Ososo Mountains in Akoko Edo in Edo State, and participants will be selected through rigorous physical screening exercises which will be held in four different locations – Lagos, Owerri, Benin and Abuja. The winner goes home with N7 million, a brand new jeep worth N10 million as well as N500,000 wardrobe allowance; the first runner up gets N2.5 million; second runner up gets N1 million, third runner up gets N800,000 while every other contestants get other monetary packages.

American star Ludacris and partner Chaka Zulu in Lagos this weekend to finalize plans for a Tv Show

American entertainer Ludacris, and his manager Chaka Zulu Obafemi, will be in Lagos this weekend to start plans for an Africa-wide project championed by Konnect Afrika (a United States and Nigerian based entertainment company)  in collaboration with Disturbing Tha Peace Records (a subsidiary of the Universal Music Group founded by Chaka Zulu Obafemi , Ludacris, and Jeff Dixon).

Details of this project will unveiled at the Volar Nite club, Victoria Island this Sunday at an exclusive V.I.P party hosted by Ludacris.
The project which is rumored to be a Rap-related Tv show  is expected to be a landmark opportunity to spice up African entertainment.

Tuface Idibia's mini documentary: The Rise of the Phoenix

The more recent life of Nigeria’s most celebrated contemporary artiste is about to be released in a documentary, entitled, The Rise of the Phoenix. It basically chronicles the last two years in 2face’s career. The reissue of the Unstoppable album; his experience at the 2010 World Cup; the One8 project; 2face Live at Eko Hotel; the 2face and Mario concert in London; the various causes he is involved in and the various awards he has won in that period.

The production dwells on the triumph and rejuvenation of 2baba after the various scandals and controversies that trailed him after his initial success as a solo artiste. It looks at what is arguably the second part of his career so far; his recent successes and metamorphosis to become one of the biggest names in African music at the moment. This is akin to the legend of the Greek mythical Phoenix bird which initially lived for 500 years then burnt itself to ashes and from those ashes arose another phoenix.

It would be produced by Buckwild Media and would be available for commercial release within the next month. There would also be a syndicated broadcast of the documentary as a TV special on selected TV channels just before the full release on CDs.

Zaaki Azzay launches his own television programme

 Zaaki Azzay is set to launch his own television programme tagged ‘True Nigerians - Heroes of our Time' which will air on Saturdays by 4pm on (NTA) and on Sundays by 7pm on HiTV. Speaking about the program Zaaki said its major aim will be to identify new role models for Nigerians to emulate. 

"It is also to encourage healthy competition among Nigerians and to build true Nigerian foundation that essentially celebrates Nigerians within and in Diaspora. The programme will equally contribute towards organizing seminars and workshops where these outstanding Nigerians will lecture the people about their principles of success and patriotism" 

Zaaki added.
