Jada Pinkett Lectures On How To Handle Blended Families.

Jada Pinkett Smith a former Hollywood A-List actress is truly a strong woman. She knows and embraces the essence of being a wife and a mother, and all the sacrifice that must obtain for marriage to be successful.

Knowing 17 years ago that she was marrying Will Smith who had a 5-year-old son from a previous marriage, she had made a conscious decision to accept his child Trey Smith and to have a smooth relationship his ex-wife Sheree. 

In a recent open letter she posted on facebook, she explained how she learned to love Trey and his mother, accepted them as "part of the package" and how she opposes the idea of a woman who comes in between her man and his child. She wrote:

A Letter to a Friend:

"Blended families are NEVER easy, but here’s why I don’t have a lot of sympathy for your situation because… we CHOOSE them. When I married Will, I knew Trey was part of the package…Period! If I didn't want that…I needed to marry someone else. Then I learned if I am going to love Trey…I had to learn to love the most important person in the world to him…his mother. And the two of us may not have always LIKED each other… but we have learned to LOVE each other.

I can’t support any actions that keep a man from his children of a previous marriage. These are the situations that separate the women from the girls. Your behavior is that of an insecure child who needs to recognize her own weaknesses that MUST be strengthened to take on the task at hand. We can’t say we love our man and then come in between him and his children. THAT’S selfishness…NOT love. WOMAN UP… I've been there…I know. My blended family made me a giant… Taught me so much about love, commitment and it has been the biggest ego death to date. It’s time you let your blended family make you the giant you truly are."

A few weeks ago Jada also shared how she made career sacrifices in order to fully commit herself to being a great mother and wife. After returning home from a business trip to New York, her son Jaden left her a surprise gift with a note attached that said “Everyday is special with you.”  She wrote:

"I may never get an Oscar. I may never have the absolute career I dreamed of because of the sacrifices I have made for my family. But…these are the small moments that make it all worth it and validates every decision I have ever made."

Some of our female celebrities are caught up in the mix: Funke Akindele, Mercy Johnson, Annie Macauley, etc, are all caught up in the experiences of blended families. And, like that isn't probing enongugh, Tiwa Savage is about to join the queue. And I'm firmly sure that they are all not having it easy.

Although, some religions support a second wife marriage and/or re-marrying after divorce, there are still women of such religions who bear hate in their hearts for their husbands' previous marriages.
