Kidnapped daughter of Commissioner in Rivers has been released

Utibeabasi Ikoiwak, the 11-year-old daughter of the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers, Mr Aniedi Ikoiwak, kidnapped on June 19, has been released by her abductors. She was kidnapped by unknown gunmen inside a church at Eket, Akwa Ibom, while the service was going on.

Ikoiwak told the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Port Harcourt that his daughter was released late on June 2 at an undisclosed location.

"Please, join us to thank the Almighty God, Utibeabasi is back home." He expressed appreciation to all friends and well wishers who stood by the family when his daughter was taken away. Ikoiwak declined to say if any ransom was paid before the daughter was released.
