Domestic Violence; "I'm Not A Punching Bag"

  

Prior to this article, i read a story of a lady who was killed by the hands of her husband and childhood love. They had known each other right from their tender age, one would think that getting married would be a happily ever after story for them. This was not the case as the man who was short-tempered took to drinking  due to several reasons and took out his frustration on his wife. She lost several pregnancies due to his abuses and unfortunately died after hitting her head against the wall when he shoved her.

How many of us secretly share the same story as this lady or know someone who is? Shame or pride has refused to let you do the right thing, or you are hoping he/she would change and things would become better. Well, this might happen but in most cases it doesn't.

Domestic violence can be defined as a pattern of of abusive behaviors by one partner against another. It can take any form including physical aggression or assault (inflicting pain on), threats, verbal assaults, intimidation, stalking, emotional e.t.c.

If you are a victim of this crime, its best you speak up or take actions to stop it before you end up in the hospital or worse. If things have not become official, its best you opt out before you make the worst mistake of your life. Courtship is a time to study your partner not a do or die affair. When dating, pay attention to danger signals. But if you have tied the knot already or your parents or siblings are the abusers, then here are some personal safety tips you can try:

• Be aware of things that trigger such violence and try to avoid them.
• Try to stay calm when it seems like things are getting out of hand. This way, you would be able to think properly on what to do instead of panicking and escalating the argument.
• Learn to protect yourself emotionally rather than being triggered and coerced by the mean things being said.
• Try to protect yourself verbally and physically without actually fighting back.
• Come up with a safety plan for yourself and children (if there is any involved)

Note that fighting back can lead to the person putting more pressure or becoming more violent. Fighting back should be your last tactic and its advised you quickly leave that place once you get the chance for things to cool off.

For people who actually commit this crime, you can stop it. When you feel yourself getting angry, try and relax or leave the place. Turning to alcohol or any other substance would only make matters worse. If you know you can't stop because you hate what the person is doing then its best you part from the person. You don't want to be responsible for the death of someone. The sentence of murder in Nigeria is death! Caution yourself.

French Promoter Looses N15m To Fake Psquare Manager

A French show promoter was swindled of $100,000USD which is 15million in Naira by a fake P square manager, the French promoter has been searching for the artist and eager to bringing the singing sensation to perform in France has gone to all the sites including facebook and twitter to launch a search of P square . During the search he came across a twitter and facebook I D  claiming to be the manager of the artist in France for 2 years. The French promoter thinking they were talking to the right person transferred the sum of  $100,000USD into the account of P square's manager.

However it downed on him that the Manager was fake when the manager stopped taking his calls, he raised an alarm but it was too late the account to which the money was sent has been cleared and the owner was no where to be found. An ex-PMAN who doesn't want his name in print said in reaction to the story

 "this is tragic, the fault lies with the artist who wouldn't join a union, things like this would not happen because the union would be the first port of call for any show promoter from any part of the world wanting to do business with Nigerian artist"

French promoter is leaving no stone unturned in fishing out the culprit and is currently making effort to reach out to security agencies in the country.

Sodiq Adeojo, Son Of Popular Nigerian Politician Gets 30 Years Jail Term

It was reported that the son of Ibadan based popular politician, Alhaji Yekini Adeojo, Sodiq Adeojo was sentenced to 30 years in prison for his alleged involvement in the murder of 17 year old Sylvester Akapalara on Dec 29, 2010.

Sodiq who is associating with a gang in Brixton was tried along with his two brothers who are 16 year-old and 18 year-old respectively, but the two brothers were later cleared in the murder case, while Sodiq was sentence to 30 years in prison.

When delivering his judgement, Judge Timothy Pontious said-

“Sylvester was an athlete of remarkable ability. He happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. It seems he was just one of the many victims targeted in the last few years in mindless and appalling violence simply because of their membership or presumed membership of opposing gangs.”

BIG Brother Star Makosi Deported To Lagos From UK On Entry With Relative's Passport ... £12,000 Siezed

According to UK's Sun Newspaper,

"BIG Brother star Makosi Musambasi was kicked out of Britain after trying to enter using a relative's passport. 

UK Border Agency officers recognised the 31-year-old ex-nurse when she arrived at London's Heathrow from Lagos, Nigeria. 

Makosi — whose topless and lesbian antics in the 2005 series of BB made her a murder target in her native Zimbabwe — flew back to Lagos next day.

Nigerian Nurse In The U.S Arresting For Foddling With A Patient

A Nigeria nursing assistant based in the United States, Folajuwani Ajani has been arrested  for fondling a patient and also videotaping it. Ajayi appeared at an indianapolis court on Tuesday where he pleaded not guilty to the charges.According to charges brought against Ajayi, while working at Wishard Hospital, he allegely removed the clothing of an unconscious female patient and fondled her genital area. This, he also videotaped.

But what gave him away was that he mistakenly videotaped his ID card and his title.Source gathered that upon arrest, police said his phone had 400,000 pictures and 17 videos.Prosecutors says they are looking for means to get the other women on his phone and interview them on whether or not they have also been abused by the assitant nurse.Ajayi’s case has once again raised the issue of medical personnel who used their position to violate female patients by sexually abusing them.

Fake Doctor Arrested After Working For More Than One Year In A Govt Hospital

The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a fake medical doctor, who worked with the name, Dr. Collins Okafor, at the General Hospital in Calabar, the state capital.

The suspect, whose real name is Mr. Simeon Kejohu (34), was said to have used the certificate of a medical practitioner to secure employment with the Cross River State Ministry of Health and worked in the hospital for one and half years before his true identity was discovered.

A source at the hospital, who is a senior health personnel, said the suspect’s identity became suspicious when all the medical doctors in the hospital were compulsorily made to register online as directed by the Medical Advisory Council.

Ghanaian actor, Simon Ebo Banson best known for his role as John Dumelo’s father in the movie ‘Baby Thief’, has been dragged to court, accused of using a red-hot iron and a razor-sharp cutlass on the body of his 19-year-old maid, while Mrs Banson on the other hand is accused of helping her husband.

The Bansons accused the maid of conspiring with thieves to rob their home, they sent her to the police where she was detained but later released to them. She constantly denied the accusation, hence the couple took matters into their hands and battered her to bleeding point. When her brother decided to visit the home due to lack of communication, he was accused of the same, Mr Banson reportedly pulled a gun at him and ordered him to remain on his knees for 12hrs. He was later told his sister was sick and was sent to prayer camp, but he got suspicious and called the Police who rushed to the house, found the victim in a very critical condition and rescued her.

At the moment, the couple are remanded in police custody as the court denied them bail. They are due to appear in court on the 7th of December.

18 Yrs Old Nigerian, Stephen Ojerinola Murdered In The UK. Two Face Charges

The remains of a young Nigerian man, Stephen Ojerinola were found in a garden in South-East London on Sunday the 20th of November and test results showed the 18-year-old had been stabbed to death.

Two men Lee Davies, 35, of Blackheath, South-East London, and William Regan, 36, of Lynsted Gardens have been charged with Mr Ojerinola's murder.

Stephen went missing in May this year.

14 Years Jail Term For Lagos Driver Who Impregnated His 12years Old Daughter

                                                   

Yet another story that will make you ask questions what directions this world is taken, because i cant imagine how you can have sex with your own daughter.

Mr Philip Michael, a driver has been sentenced to 14 years in prison with hard labour for defiling his 12 year old daughter which resulted in pregnancy. The family social services unit of the Lagos State Ministry Of Youth And Social Development heard of the abuse and arrested him.

During an interrogation, the victim Miss Happiness Michael, it became apparent that he forcefully took her away from her biological mother and, he had sex with her on several occasions. Her pregnancy was detected by her school teacher.

In this business of blogging I have come across several stories but this just freaks me out. I'm glad justice was served and I hope this serves as a caution to many other perverts.
