There is outrightly no problem if a European Magazine wants to depict an African essence; it heightens our pride that the rest of the world acknowledge our passion.
But in a case as this, where Paris Magazine Numero hired a White model Ondria Hardin and had her skin fully bronzed out to pose as an "African Queen" in its March issue, I think it is unacceptable. I mean, what happened to Iman Mohamed Abdulmajid, Alek Wek, Liya Kebede, Agbani Darego, Oluchi Onweagba, Ajak Deng, etc? These are African models who are making it big internationally. That aside, the modelling agency that represents Ondria Hardin also has a handful of Black models such as Kelly, Raquel, Rose etc who could have done the same job perfectly. To think the scarcity of Black models in mainstream fashion is gaining grounds by the day, is not comfortable.

DeleteDon't see anything wrong with it. Its artistic. It doesn't mean there are no black models. We should learn to think outside the box.
