Hip-hop act Jude M.I Abaga and Nigerian singer and song-writer Omawumi Megbele have both been chosen as host for the 7th edition of Nigeria's biggest music honour event THE HEADIES.
This was announced by Ayo Animashaun the executive producer of The Headie. He (Ayo Animashaun) said that the pair was chosen in line with the awards' tradition of picking talented and inspiring entertainers to head an award ceremony that parades some of the continents most popular entertainers.
Omawumi who won the prize of the 'Next rated' at the Headies in 2009 after coming second in the West African Idol in 2008, has continued to show great passion and love for what she is doing. It is obvious that she is heading for greater success.
M.I who came into the industry as nobody and got his first surprise win at the Headies in 2008, has won a total of 9 Headies, including the Best rap album and Revelation of the year (both in 2009). He has now become not just a popular figure in the rap world, but also an ambassador of hip-hop to the continent.
M.I and Omawumi are already getting along, putting ideas together and arranging good concepts in preparation of the great event which will be coming up on the 20th of October this year at Eko Hotel and Suites.
I say congrats to the both of you.
