Wizkid was declared  winner of Best African Act in the 2011 MOBO Awards, despite competiton from big acts around Africa including  D'Banj, Seun Kuti, Liquideep, Cheikh Lo, Fatoumata Diawara, Owiny Sigoma Band, Smod, Spoek Mathambo and Viewux Farka Toure.
