Today the 5th of March, 2013; Ghana celebrates its 56th anniversary as an independent state from British colonial rule. This made them the first West African nation to break its link with colonial authority. The people of Ghana mark it with colorful parades all across the country.
To also mark the occasion, the President, John Dramani Mahama is to address a national parade of school children and contingents and security personnel at the independence square in Accra. The president would then take the national salute and read out the Head of State's speech.
Her Excellency, Chargé d’Affaires C. Pat Alsup on behalf of the U.S. Embassy in Ghana sends best wishes to the people of Ghana, reminding them also that America still remains committed to them.
The people of the Republic of Nigeria also send their best wishes to them. Have a good one Ghana.
