It is there statutory right to protect and in the case of
abduction to rescue. This was supposed to be the case when the abducted
Nigerian International, Christian Obodo was rescued from gunmen that kidnapped him
recently but developing stories suggest otherwise. After taking credit for the
release of the kidnapped footballer, the Emevor Vigilante squad has come out to
refute the police claims. They express their
anger at what they believe is a shortchange of their heroism. Earlier the Delta State Police spokesperson
DSP Charles Muka and the Delta State Commissioner for Information, Chika Ogeah told
the general public that Christian Obodo was rescued by the Nigeria Police.
According to the locals, the midfielder escaped from his
captor when he was taken to a food vendor for dinner. He was said to have
sneaked out of the restaurant and when he was distance away from them he
started screaming, calling for help. He was said to have been rescued by the
local vigilante group who later handed him over to the police.
The police however claimed to have arrested five people in
the community
