Mandela Charity's Fashion Line, '46664 Apparel' Makes Runway Debut

The International fashion label was launched to raise money for Nelson Mandela’s AIDS charity, and it appeared on the catwalk for South Africa Fashion Week, with everything from salmon-coloured suits for men to full-length flowing gowns for women. . The label '46664' was named after Mandela's prison number and is supposed to be a means of reliable and sustainable income stream for his charity which is committed to battling the spread of HIV and AIDS and once used mega-concerts with stars like Bono and Annie Lennox to raise money for its work.

The men and women's range includes everyday wear items as well as couture outfits and is being designed by Seardel, South Africa's biggest textile and clothing manufacturer. Stores may also be opened in the US and the UK next year.
