The Fantastic Four star Jessica Alba was at home with her husband when she felt her hand went numb and began experiencing severe headaches and heart palpitations.
On US talk show, the Hollywood admitted that she was "terrified". She revealed to host Jimmy:
"Basically I thought I was having a stroke last week. I really, really thought I was. It was 2.30 in the morning and I woke up and my hand started to go numb. The whole entire thing went numb. It was dead, I couldn't move it. My whole arm went numb, I got cold sensations in the back of my neck to the front. I can't move my face."The 31-year-old actress panicked when she looked up the internet and discovered that her symptoms were consistent with cerebrovascular accident (CVA), commonly called a stroke. Not wanting to treat the new discovery with levity, she turned to the only medic she knew would respond even at that late hour- her daughters' Paediatrician. She explained:
"I texted my Paediatrician. He's my kids' paediatrician, but he's the only person who will answer me at 2.30 in the morning. I texted him and I said, 'I have these symptoms... it's all going downhill!' He was like, 'You're a little young for this...'"
Jessica was eventually taken to a hospital for an MRI scan, which revealed she was suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome, a relatively common condition that causes pain, numbness and a tingling sensation in the hand and fingers.
