Four Female Nigerian Teenage Students Develop Functional Urine Powered Generator

Four female secondary students in Lagos have developed a urine powered generator. The quad-squad comprises of 14-year-old Duro-Aina Adebola, Akindele Abiola, Faleke Oluwatoyin and 15-year old Bello Eniola showcased their unique innovation at this year’s Maker Faire Africa held in Lagos, Nigeria.

A statement on their website read thus

“Our inventions have largely stayed hidden in the ‘punk of the bush’ and the outer reaches of the informal sector until now.”

Below is a description of how the ingenious creation of these four young Nigerians work: Please click the READ MORE to see more photos

Urine is put into an electrolytic cell, which cracks the urea into nitrogen, water, and hydrogen.

The hydrogen goes into a water filter for purification, which then gets pushed into the gas cylinder.

The gas cylinder pushes hydrogen into a cylinder of liquid borax, which is used to remove the moisture from the hydrogen gas.

This purified hydrogen gas is pushed into the generator. 1 Liter of urine gives you 6 hours of electricity. Very soon Nigeria will have urine stations everywhere. lol

I would advise these girls to file for patent for their discovery, so that they can make maximum gain from their discovery, because some sharp companies will soon copy the inventive steps, then patent the product.

Nice discovery. What do you think? Share your thoughts
