Africans Rejoice As Miss Angola Is Crowned Miss Universe



Miss Angola, Leila Lopes just made  Africans proud by becoming the 2nd ever winner of the Miss Universe competition, the last African to win this crown was Miss Botswana (Mpule Kwelagobe) in 1999
25years old Miss Lopes is a Business Management Student in the UK, who hails from the town of Benguela in Angola. When she was asked what she might change about her physical characteristics , she replied saying, 
"I consider myself a woman endowed with inner beauty," she said. "I have acquired many wonderful principles from my family, and I plan to follow those through the rest of my life." 
This year's competition took place at Sao Paulo, Brazil, and was hosted by U.S. television personalities Andy Cohen and Natalie Morales.The panellists who included, Race car driver Helio Castroneves, Actress Vivica A. Fox and Journalist Connie Chung, and they scored the women on each contest, narrowing them down from 89 to 16, down to the final 5 which had Miss Ukraine as 1st runner up, Miss Brazil as 2nd runner up, Miss Philippines as 3rd runner up and Miss China as 4th runner up. Lopes tallied only a 3.6 score for the swimsuit but earned a 7.2 for her evening gown. Fan voting, however, did not count in the final tallies from nine judges. Lopes takes her place as the winner of the 60th annual Miss Universe pageant.
