Chief Olusegun Obasanjo now writes a weekly commentary in a newspaper column

Two-time national leader,  Chief Olusegun Obasanjo now writes a weekly commentary in a newspaper column which is now two months old. The column appears on the back page of the Saturday Mirror.
His most recent commentary in the column was on August 6, 2011, and is titled “The shame of Africa and the Arab world” and in it, he highlights the experience of former Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak appearing in court in a cage, he also begs for kindness for erring former leaders by writing
“…I am not saying that Mubarak has not made a mistake in his almost thirty years in running the affairs of Egypt or that he has not committed any misdemeanour or offence, but decency demands that in bringing him to judgment, the good he has done should be brought side by side with the mistakes he has made and if this is done objectively, I am of the mind that the good will outweigh the mistakes. And even then, if he has to be slaughtered, he will not be cut in pieces; he will only have his neck slashed…”

JJC aka Skillz says "Don Jazzy and Dbanj betrayed me ... I trained Don Jazzy "

In an interview with City People Magazine, he said
It’s just life. Some people forget how everything started and some people remember, I would say that I was really the person that built the foundation for everybody to become what they are today and I would expect that they would remember and pay me that regard but they don’t.
The experience with Don Jazzy, D’Banj and other ex 419 Squad members was heartbreaking, because it was personal and it became something that affected me emotionally, hence the reason I left music for four years and nobody saw or heard from me. I didn’t record or do anything musically. I slowed myself down.
Don Jazzy was a keyboard player and Mr. Solek and Kas brought him to me and said that he really liked my music. At that time I was already JJC and I had songs like kilonsele on air play already and had won a couple of awards, I was strong in the game. I trained Don Jazzy on how to become a producer and he lived in my house for about a year and I showed him how to produce, trained him on how to perform and put things together.
And D’Banj , from the branding to how to act like Fela, I did it for him. His song, mobolowon won, was written by me, Raggaremi and MP. Even All The Way was written in Lagos here. I was very instrumental in packaging Don Jazzy and D’banj.I was supposed to release D’Banj’s first album on my label, Backbone Music, but by the time we all came back to Nigeria in 2004, everyone started going their own ways when it was time to sign the 50/50 contract. They all decided not to sign. If I give you a contract and you refuse to sign, there is little or nothing I can do about it.
Do I feel betrayed by them? I don’t believe in regrets, because I believe every single thing in life make you who you are. The experience has made me a better business man. Now before I start anything with any artiste, they sign a contract or an agreement, so that we don’t have any issues in future.
Hmm... I'm not sure what my take is on this matter, but in the same way Don Jazzy is really respected in Nigeria, JJC aka Skillz is reputable in the United Kingdom, and was also respected back in the days when he was still Nigerian based. Good thing JJC has moved back to Nigeria, hence, giving an opportunity for him to show us what he's got now, as opposed to relying on past achievements.

Unbelievable cover for Terry G's "Terry G.zuz" album

Not only does Terry G refer to himself as Terry G.zuz, he also has this image on his album cover. It's such a coincidence that we were discussing a similar publicity stunt in yesterday's POST which concerned JayZ and Kanye's 'watch the throne' album cover. No doubt this kind of stunt would increase album sale for JayZ and Kanye, but for Terry G, I seriously worry that Africans won't be as tolerant and this stunt may in fact backfire ... Well time would tell.

Also, Danny Young claims Terry G stole his song and reproduced it, but Terry G is yet to speak on this matter, hence we can't say for certain if Danny Young's claim is true or false.

Well, it seems Danny Young can now be added to Terry G's 'feud book' which already has the likes of Mallam Spicy, AY.Com, Side One and Kelly Hansome

VIDEO: 2011 Africa Fashion Week, London

The first instalment of the Africa Fashion Week London held on the 5th and 6th of August 2011 at the Bishops Hall in the east end of London. The groundbreaking event was organised by the CEO/Founder Ms Ronke Ademiluyi and partners to showcase international designers using Africanprints, textiles and fabrics from most African countries. The two day event witnessed up to 50 designers from all over the world showcasing their collections on the runway
This show was the first of its kind in London, nonetheless, a lot of people complained about the disorganisation of the event. Hopefully, the organisers have learnt from this and would make corrections next time because, undeniably, the event fills up a much needed gap in the UK fashion industry.
